Comedian Russell Brand dazzled BBC Newsnight viewers recently with an interview sure to be heard ’round the world.
In the interview, Brand railed against the current structure of traditional capitalism and “democratic politics”, saying in effect, that the system is killing the planet and destroying humanity. Early in the interview, Brand confesses to having never voted in his life. He defends his decision as not one of apathy but of activism:
“I’m not voting out of apathy, I’m voting out of the absolute indifference and weariness and exhaustion from the lies treachery, deceit of the political class that has been going on for generations now and which is now reached fever pitch where we have a disenfranchised, disillusioned, despondent underclass that are not being represented by the political system.”
– Russell Brand
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
Later in the interview Brand suggests that we need a new system, one that better serves humanity, the planet and one that is more fair to all people. He acknowledges that as of yet, there is no system available that can do this, but he doesn’t know about Copiosis…yet.
It really is an interview that’s a must-see. Here’s the link again. Take a look.
Copiosis is a socio-economic innovation that eliminates market externalities (crime, unemployment, etc.) and spurs innovation in ways never seen before all while making people accountable for their actions. Find out more at www.copiosis.com
